Aquakultre just released their sunny new track “Don’t Trip”. Along with the single, he also announced his upcoming album of the same name, which will be released on July 22.

Nicknamed by Halifax neo-soul artist and rapper Lance Sampson, Aquakultre also released the accompanying music video for “Don’t Trip.” Shot on the big screen, the video shows Sampson following a trail of toys left behind by her little one, ultimately leading to a tender moment with her family.

“Once I started to sit down to dial in the beat, I found myself picking up a small keyboard that Rich Aucoin had donated to a studio we’re fundraising for. After a few hours, the beat was done, and soon after, the lyrics started flowing,” Aquakultre says of the track. “Jools [Julia] kept telling me it was the “jam” and i didn’t really believe it at first until i started showing the progress to other people, and they always pointed this one out , out of the group. “Don’t Trip” is just about reassuring each other in a relationship that it’s for real, it’s long term, and no matter what, we trust each other enough not to have to worry about anything.

Aquakultre was shortlisted for the Polaris Prize in 2020 for his album Murphy’s bleeding gums. Written throughout the pandemic while Sampson was indoors with his family, don’t stumble has an impressive number of guests despite being a deeply personal project.

“I called the album don’t stumble because when Julia and I first met, we were both tired of looking for someone,” Sampson explains. “We were both coming out of exhausting relationships where we had done everything in our power to make them work. Once we met, it was like closing that chapter of finding the right person.
