Nearly 17 years after Destiny’s Child disbanded in 2005 following the release of five studio albums, fans of the iconic R&B trio continue to speculate that a reunion is on the horizon.

Kelly Rowland addressed the rumors during a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, assuring fans that Destiny’s Child would “never play with anyone” in a possible reunion.

“We love everyone so much we wouldn’t mess with this, but I think…you guys deserve a surprise,” Rowland shared. “I feel like everything is so planned that we see it before it happens and we see the process right after it happens.”

She added, “It’s just a lot, like, we deserve spontaneity, we want to be surprised, and I hope Destiny’s Child would be a pleasant surprise.”

Rowland’s comments come several months after fans speculated the powerhouse trio were reforming after the group changed their Twitter and Facebook header photos. Alas, it wasn’t long before Beyoncé’s father, Mathew Knowles, denied the rumors.

During a chat with TMZ last August, Knowles, who is still Destiny’s Child’s official manager, confirmed that there were no plans for the group to reunite.

“It was just a random, normal social media type update,” he told the outlet.
