Looking for the elusive Sony console? Here’s where to buy it

(The Independent)

Update July 18: The PS5 Digital Edition is now in stock at ShopTo. PS5 Disc Edition Bundles Are In Stock At Game, Very and the BT Shop. He could restock at Argos this week. Read on for more information.

Since its launch in 2020, the PlayStation 5 has been ridiculously hard to come by. Supply chain issues resulting from the coronavirus pandemic have all but halted production of Sony’s latest games console.

Fortunately, the situation has improved considerably in recent months, with the PS5 remaining in stock at at least one retailer since late April, with Game and the BT shop, as well as several independent retailers like The game collection and To analyse lead the charge.

We expect this flurry of console restocks to continue throughout the summer. But while restocks have become more frequent, buying a console on its own remains a challenge, with retailers preferring to restock bundles rather than the standalone console. These sell out in the blink of an eye. Digital consoles – bundles included – are even harder to find and have all but disappeared off the face of the earth.

If you’re still on the hunt for the elusive PlayStation 5, we’ve got a tip for you: sit back on this live blog and watch your real-time alerts. Our goal is to guarantee you a next-gen machine, whether it’s a bundle, standalone disc or digital edition console, as well as providing you with the details on the best games and accessories to grab with your new console, plus the latest game reviews.

When could Currys restock the PS5?

curries could restock the console later this month. The retailer last dropped a bunch of bundles on its website on June 27, with supplies running out on July 6.

Currys has been doing this quite frequently lately – releasing console packs towards the end of the month, so expect another drop towards the end of July. That said, the bundles at Currys are still expensive, costing £610+, so it’s not a retailer to rely on if you’re looking for a cheap bundle or a standalone console.

Best PS5 Games

Now that you have a PS5 on the way, you’ll probably want to get some new games to play on your machine. We’ve rounded up 19 of our favorite PS5 games that everyone needs to play, and the list features both new and old games.

One of our top picks is Death Loop. “Like other Arkane Studios titles, Death Loop is a mix of stealth, role-playing and first-person shooter genre in a stylish world,” our writer said in his review. “Players will control Colt Vahn, as he attempts to escape Blackreef, an island populated by hedonists using a time loop to throw an endless party.”

When could John Lewis restock the PS5?

John Lewis and partners last PS5 restock on July 5 and before that on May 25. The retailer used to restock the console very infrequently—usually once every two and a half months—but John Lewis caught on to other retailers’ practices and began bundling the machine with other accessories.

This means that restocks at John Lewis take more than a few minutes and happen much more frequently. That said, we still doubt another restock will happen this month.

Fifa 23 release date

Although EA hasn’t officially confirmed when FIFA 23 will be released this year, the release date may have already been leaked by reliable insider @ALumia_Italia, who tracks new game releases in the Xbox backend.

So when could it be released? According to him, September 30. This matches our own educated guess based on previous release patterns, which also set the release date to September 30. Last year, FIFA 22 was released on October 1, 2021 and the year before, FIFA 21 was released on October 9, 2020. EA typically releases its titles on a Friday.

Argos is ready for a PS5 restock this week or next

We still rely on @PS5StockAlertUK. inventory tracking to disclose details about Argos restocks. The Twitter account has insiders scurrying around the Argos warehouse, dropping notes about the next delivery, and it’s apparently not too far away now.

The inventory tracker predicts that the digital edition consoles will arrive in Argos between 18-July 20, with Disc Edition consoles dropping a week later between July 25 and July 27.

The PS5 Digital Edition is now in stock at ShopTo

ShopTo just restocked the Digital Edition Console with a copy of Forbidden Horizon West. It’s now the cheapest package available and costs £409.85. This is also the only place where you can currently purchase the Digital Edition Console. This one will sell out quickly.

When could Smyths Toys restock the PS5?

Smyths Toys have already had three restocks this month – one on Friday 8th July, one on Wednesday 13th July and another on Friday 15th July, is there any chance it could get another restock this week?

Potentially, Smyths Toys restocks are pretty hard to predict, but the retailer tends to drop inventory towards the second half of the week, so keep your eyes peeled.

BT is restocking a £499.99 PS5 bundle

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, the PS5 is currently in stock at BT Shop, as it has done for the past three months. It looks like the retailer has also just restocked the Forbidden Horizon West bundle on its website for £499.99.

As always, you must be a BT Broadband customer to purchase the console from the BT Store. Follow the instructions at the top of the retailer’s page to obtain an access code.

The game has three cheap PS5 bundles in stock

GameBundles aren’t often the cheapest in the world, but it looks like the retailer has revamped their offering and now offers three disc edition bundles that are pretty darn affordable. Again, no standalone consoles in stock, but these bundles are worth it.

There’s a PS5 Disc Edition bundle with an additional dualsense controller in black or white, plus a case for your controller (£514.98, Game.co.uk) in stock, or you can opt for the PS5 Disc Edition Console with a copy of Horizon Forbidden West and a controller box (£524.98, Game.co.uk).
